Introducing Harbeth Audio, a traditional British 2-way loudspeaker brand that Michael sees as an essential companion to several existing Stereo Stereo brands.
Recently, while visiting a customer’s home, Michael heard a pair of speakers and “went crazy.” The brand? Harbeth Audio. Of Harbeth, Michael says, “I have been searching for a speaker that will match musically with both the Audio Research I/70 and Moonriver amplifiers. Something aesthetically classic. A speaker with a beautifully uncolored midrange that is non-fatiguing and can be enjoyed for hours. Maybe a speaker with a classic BBC design? Yes, that will do it. Harbeth. They incorporate all of the virtues that I described.”
Harbeth’s history is inextricably linked to the BBC: its founder, H.D. Harwood, was Head of Loudspeaker Development at the British Broadcasting Company in the 1960s and 70s. His work at the BBC was so important that many of his research papers are still available for download on their website. Classic engineering-focused R&D has been a cornerstone of the brand since is inception.
There are now two models from Harbeth on demonstration in the showroom: the M30.3 XD2 in Walnut and the SLH5plus XD2 in Rosewood. Michael described himself as being “very, very, very excited about” this latest addition to Stereo Stereo’s product offerings; come in and hear it for yourself!
